What we recommend:
The CPU is not quite so important, but having several cores (4-8) certainly helps to speed up the calculation. We will continue to improve this in the future.
The main memory (RAM) is however very important. It should be at least 4 GB. We recommend 8 to 16 GB for professional use.
The graphics card is the most important of all. This need not be expensive, but for our latest DIALux evo 6 version it should support OpenGL 3.0. A large memory is also important here: at least 1 GB, 2 GB or more is recommended. Here it is very important that the graphics card has its »own memory« and not a »shared memory«.
Our experience is that there are often problems with (new) drivers of Intel graphics cards so that we would recommend a graphics card from Nvdia or AMD.
Our DIALux evo software runs under the following Windows operating systems: Vista SP2 (32/64 bit) / Windows 7 (32/64 bit) / Windows 8 (32/64 bit) / Windows 8.1 (32/64 bit) / Windows 10 (32/64 bit)
Please appreciate that we cannot name any specific computer system.
If there are problems with your graphics card during the installation of the DIALux evo software, we recommend that you first of all carry out an update of your graphics card on the site of the manufacturer of the graphics card.
If there are still problems after a driver update, please check whether more than one graphics card has been installed in your computer system (Optimus System). If this is the case, then you must switch from the graphics card integrated into the CPU to the desired graphics card.

It is no problem at all to install both of our lighting design products on a computer at the same time. You can in fact even work with both programmes at the same time.
At present it is only possible to import indoor projects into DIALux evo which were created with our DIALux 4 software from version 188.8.131.52 onwards. This is not possible for outdoor scenes.
Additionally, it only possible to import with the 32-bit version of evo, since DIALux 184.108.40.206 is also a 32-bit application.
Our DIALux 4.12 software must also be installed on the computer.
DIALux evo is the successor to our DIALux 4 software and only DIALux evo will continue to be developed in the future.
We will of course react to any errors in our DIALux 4.12 software but will not implement any new features.
In our latest version of evo, evo 6, each feature of the preceding software DIALux 220.127.116.11 is implemented, with the exception of emergency lighting, sports complex lighting and the creation of videos.
No, at present it is unfortunately only possible to calculate the whole project. We will, however, improve this in a future version of evo.
Our lighting design software DIALux evo is developed for Windows systems only and it is only these systems which we support.
We can however give you a successfully tested workaround with which it is possible to use our DIALux evo software on an Apple system. It is possible to use both the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version of our latest DIALux evo version with the virtualization software VMware Fusion 8.1.0 in a Windows environment on a Mac system.
It is most probably not possible to install our latest version, DIALux evo 6, under Parallels, since Parallels does not support the OpenGL version which is used in our current evo version. When and whether there will be a version of Parallels which supports this OPenGL version, it is not possible for us to say.

An oversized ground element has a negative influence on the calculation performance. We therefore recommend making the automatically created ground element smaller for outdoor views.
A building which is far from its origin (position 0/0/0) will also have a huge negative influence on the calculation time.
If the luminaire arrangements in a light scene are combined with the same dimming values, this will have a positive influence on the calculation performance.
At present it is not possible in our DIALux evo software to show the luminaire positions and the mounting height of luminaires in the documentation.
To show the luminaire positions in the outputs, these must first be saved individually as a view. With the aid of dimension lines you can record the position of the objects and then insert these at different locations in the documentation.
Our evo software supports the AutoCAD versions 2000, 2004, 2007, 2010 and 2013.
If, at any time, it is not possible to import a DWG, please check if the DWG was saved with one of these AutoCAD versions.
If any problems arise when reading in DWG data in our evo software, please save the problematic data as a 2010 AutoCAD version and then import this DWG into evo again.You can save DWG data using the free »DraftSight« software.
Frequently external references in the original DWG drawing (so-called XRefs) cause a message to appear during the import of a drawing and the drawing cannot be displayed in evo. Please remove these external references in your DWG file and then try again to import your DWG file into our evo software.
If, for example, your DWG//DXF file is at any time not visible when you change the view, you must check whether the display of the active drawing is activated and whether a tick has been entered in the 3D window for the display of the 2D projection.
