Horticulture lighting

Basics in lighting for greenhouses and vertical farming.

Our seminar focuses on light for horticulture. The current topic »vertical farming« presents new challenges for lighting. Lighting designers have to know how different spectra and light intensities influence the plant processes. Which kind of light causes flower induction, flower prevention, chances for propagation and breeding? Besides these questions we will cover aspects of efficiency and energy input calculations. Since we are free of obligation to any manufacturer, questions about products and trends are answered honestly with no holds barred.

We give insights into the latest findings of the BrightBox project, Venlo. You will experience practical workshops and amazing demonstrations in the seminar. Afterwards you will have a well-founded basic knowledge in the field of plant illumination. You will also have the opportunity to carry out optional dimensioning of greenhouse lighting in the professional lighting design tool DIALux evo on the third day.

Format, duration and location
Seminar, 2 days at DIAL in Lüdenscheid.
3 days with a DIALux evo course (could be booked separately).

Method
You can experience and try out a lot live: The seminar includes live demonstrations, workshops and theory.

Learning objective
Basics of horticulture lighting, light requirements of different plants, spectral influences on different plant processes, cost-benefit analysis.

Target group
Operators and planners of greenhouses, vertical farming and climate houses, lighting designers, manufacturers and all those interested in horticulture lighting.
