Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming the world of lighting design, from early-stage visualization and photorealistic renderings to communication with clients and creative workflows. As AI tools become more accessible, lighting designers are discovering new ways to develop ideas, present concepts, and accelerate parts of the design process.

In the latest episode of DIAL Spotlight, we discuss how AI is already being used in lighting design today, the opportunities and limitations of AI-generated visualizations, and how technologies like prompt engineering are transforming creative workflows. Together with Julian Neuhauser, a freelance lighting designer and lighting design trainer, we discuss realistic renderings, client expectations, the physical understanding of light in AI systems, and the future role of lighting designers in an increasingly AI-driven industry.

In addition, an English-language webinar on the “Practical Use of AI in Lighting Design” will follow a few weeks later. Further information about the webinar and registration will be announced soon.
